Sand Barge Spill, San Francisco, February 2011
The Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) crews responded to a grounded sand barge in San Francisco near the St. Francis Yacht Club. Using pre-established response strategies, crews double boomed the vessel for preventative purposes. Crews also deployed precautionary protective boom along the sensitive shore and at the mouth of the yacht club. No wildlife impacts were reported, but CDFW had an environmental specialist and oil spill prevention specialist on-scene to monitor and assist with planning and operations.
